Do you watch the Show Longmire? If you don’t you should. Unfortunately this is the last season. and the Last Longmire Days Event…. Whats that you say? What is Longmire Days? Well sit right back and I will tell you about it. If you just want to skip straight to all the pictures click here
All right, I am going to assume you know what the show Longmire is about… In the fictitious town of Durant, WY in the fictitious County of Absaroka… Well this set is modeled after Buffalo, WY in Johnson County. and for the past 6 years they have been holding an event called Longmire Days. The shows cast comes to hang out with many events to celebrate the show and it Wyoming roots.
My parents got there on Friday morning, and were able to go hang out for a bit with there friends Dan and Carol. They saw a few actors and go this picture with A Martinez (Jacob Nighthorse). We arrived about 9:20 that evening then, headed down to the Historic Occidental Hotel. They were holding an Auction for some memorabilia from the show, by the sounds of it they made quite a bit of money. Me got to See A Martinez out side of the hotel but were unable to get a photo with him as some guy monopolized his time. The auction ran late and there was supposed to be a Jam with Actors but we decided to head back to the camper… While we were waiting though, Mer and Noah got to talk to John Bishop (Bob Barnes or Bob the Drunk).
On Saturday we woke up and headed down town the Pancake breakfast. The list of events didn’t say it was free but it didn’t say there was a cost either. Ended up being 5$ per person. but that’s alright, it was good and it benefited the Kiwanis Club. Mon made mention that they hadn’t seen Branch (Bailey Chase) Yet. Noah pipes up and Says he was here standing in front of me two minutes ago while you were in line! Dang IT!!!!!!
Well after the breakfast we moved on to the parade
It was very short… Like 15 minutes. I did a Facebook live for some of it. Then it was off to the craft show, that was pretty big got some ideas for stuff then the Car show!!! but there was no beer Damn It !!!!! Again. There were however some very nice cars!!!. We went to go get a beer at one of the local pubs but they were all packed and we couldn’t get in, so back to the camper for a Samich, a drink and, some good conversation. We checked out the near by river it was very pretty as well.
Went to the pool at the KOA we were staying at for a bit to cool off. man that water was cold, but it sure help beat the heat! about 3 we took mom and Dad over to the High School and dropped them off for there conversation with the Actors. Walt Jacob and Bob the drunk were there taking question from the audience. Mer, Noah and I went traipsing downtown looking for a knife store but could find one so we stopped at a sporting goods store.. they were super expensive. we also went and had a quick lunch bite and then to a thrift store.
Drove about the town an little bit then headed back to the camper to wait for Nana and pap to be done with their event.
Then it was dinner Time! Papa made us some great hamburgers and we showed them pictures of our trip to mexico before heading downtown to the street Dance
Here’s where the Fun began Of Course with Beer!!! As you can see the cups were provided by the Four Arrows Casino & Resort which is the fictitious casino in the show. Anyway we set up our chairs and listened to the good music that was playing. Went and got a beer and enjoyed some conversation. I went to go our other chairs out of the car, when I got back I had to go get another beer cause some lady ins stoller knocked mine over. As i was doing that. Robert Taylor and Adam Bartley had made there way down to the dance crowed. Mer was one of the first to go great them but many people flocked and pushed her out of the way. Well I set me beer down and went over there. I was able to get a few picture of them in the crowd and I realized how awesome they were being and taking time for everyone. So I told Mer to come up there with me.
Ferg was the first that we got to, I shook his hand and said hi Adam, I’m Adam. then he put his are around me and Mer took a pic and I got a selfie. Then it was Mer’s turn. HE was such a nice guy. About 30 seconds later we got to meet Robert. Mer says “Mr. Taylor nice to meet you!” and he said, “Yes I am Robert Taylor, nice to meet you also”. We got a selfie with both Mer and I with him. Then he autographed my shirt at Mer’s request. Mr. Taylor was also a really nice guy. We had a couple more beers. Mom and Dad did some Dancing. We decided we should probably head home and check on the kiddo it was getting late!
We slept pretty good Saturday night, and woke up to coffee brewing on Sunday. We had Bloody Marys, Eggs, Bacon and Pancakes for breakfast (was so good). Then we taught mom and Dad how to play Cribbage.
Packed up the car, helped clean up the motor home a bit them we headed out back to Cheyenne!
Got a text message later that afternoon from my mom saying she finally go to meet branch. What a perfect weekend.
