Memorial Day weekend 2016

Whole in the wall!

First of all Happy memorial day to all those who have lost love ones for what ever reason. a great day to Remember.

Weekend started out a little sooner than expected. The window installers decided the to show up on Friday morning so I decided to stay home while that was happening. I had a meeting to go to at 10 but that was about it.

Whole in the wall! The windows guys installed 8 windows and a sliding glass door in in about 8 hours, Notice the pic of the giant whole in my wall, they actually had to frame in a little bit more because the new door is smaller. to go along with that, when I called work to tell  them about the windows, I got a whole bunch of e-mails and IMs asking me if I needed help installing  windows and what version I was working with. If you know me, I am a computer nerd and that’s pretty funny stuff.

First Mowing JobThe rest of Friday was pretty uneventful, took the little kid over to grandmas to do his first mowing job, and he did really well. had little pizzas for dinner, my sister in law came over and started watching TV with Mer, so I went over to there house and hung out with my brother in law.

Saturday started pretty early for me, the windows guys showed up at about 7:15 to finish the job. Mer slept in a little bit.  then the big kid had to go to our room to nap because they were working in his room. After they left, I went out and planted grass in the area that was bare from when we pulled out the big as fir tree. Mer cleaned house a little bit.  Then we headed  out to Menards

We took the little kid over to a friends house and dropped him off for the rest of the day. A little while later Mer and I went to the Verizon store to get a new phone for my Mother-in-law, she has a trac phone now with really crappy service, so she was happy to hear about the new phone.

We will take a short break, please enjoy this you tube video brought to you by GFunk!

Back to the house to get ready for BBQ. Our friends came over to make us BBQ, they brought all the food and did all the cooking and even brought the booze!!! yay! During that process the older kid and I worked on making a Kiln to melt aluminum in. We took a old propane cylinder and cut off the top and then poured concrete in it. It is still a work in progress but check out the gallery!

Good Eatin! And the BBQ is ready!!!! Oh yeah these guys hooked us up! we had burgers and Dogs and Brats, chips and dips a grilled Corn on the cob!! what a marvelous meal! thanks guys! After dinner we worked some more on the Kiln and got the concrete around it. the it was game time PHASE 10 Bitches!!!! This is my game and I was doing so well too, back forth, the tensions were high but we were having fun! and then DAMMMM!!!! phase 10 I win!…… Nope… good ol Gfunk not only got phase 10 but he had fewer points than I did I just can’t win, but hey it was a good game with good friends and family!! Saturdays rock

SUNday!!!

SmokinYes it was sunny out! I love the sun, even though it melts my white ass flesh! Mer and I got up and went to Sams club to get some ribs for dinner and few other things. I got beef ribs and She got pork ribs so we could have a cook off! she got this awesome spice and I use Carne Asada seasoning that we already had. She put hers in the crock pot and I put mine in the smoker ( finished off in the oven about 6.5 hours off cooking time total).

A little While later Zach came over and we looked at his computer, as we were messing with it the mother board took a crapola, so he bought a new one, ( now he has to wait for his computer games poor guy) Merideth started working on her country style bench (gallery post below).

An old friend stopped by as we were working on the computer, Mer came in to let me know he was here and that he didn’t look to good. I went out to the garage and sure enough he didn’t look good. I asked him to come in the house so we could talk. and he told me his mother had passed away. I was so very sad to hear this. Shirley had been a big part of my teenage years and 20’s. we spent a lot of time with her. so we had some mourning. the weird thing is (I this 6th sense thing) I had a spiritual visitor on Saturday, something that was sitting on our entertainment center ( that hasn’t moved in week) flew off onto the floor, and a set of golf clubs i had in the garage ( again for weeks without moving) suddenly fell over. I guess i should have take those as signs. anyway RIP Shirley we will miss you! Finished off the day with a walk and some crying.

Monday

Happy Memorial Day All!

Finishing the ShedWe got up and went to work straight away. Mer took most of the day to finish her bench, I worked on putting some finishing touches on the shed, putting up the rustic fence pickets on the door and building a step to the little porch. earlier in the Day went and helped Zach get a couch for he a Georges town home. Finally got to meet Zach’s mother for the first time in 7 years, she has always lived in Cheyenne but we never met. That was about a 50 mile round trip, she lives way out of town. Then back to the house for more work!

We had 3 hailstorms on Monday afternoon and lots of rain had a wonderful honey mustard chicken meal for dinner with green beans, stuffing and broccoli. Mer and I finished up the evening with a little hot tub alone time.

All in all what a great weekend, a little sad, very productive and the best thing was spending time with family and friends!

I hope you all had a wonderful Memorial day weekend!
