Oh what a birthday, my friends and my family always seem to make this day (week) so very special.. I truly don’t deserve it.
The Saturday before my big day, my buddies George and Zach. Took me out to dinner and then bowling and then back to my house for some cards and such. Man what a good night.
On Tuesday, we had plans to go to Red Lobster for dinner, but plans change, Mer got a great deal on a plane ticket to Vegas to see a her mother, who also celebrates her birthday on June 6th. Little tidbit, she was born on D-Day, 1944..
But her Payne left that evening at 7. So we switched RL to lunch instead. Met my parents there and had a wonderful meal.
After the lunch came the presents. My parents gave me a wonderful card, some generous cash and a golf pass for the summer! Woo hook!
Mer and boys gave a me a wonderful card a package of underwear (I know….) and 3 tickets METALLICA Concert so me and the boys could go! Wow! I didn’t think we were gonna get to go, my love always surprises!
After work, my son drove his mom to the airport, and I did some wood working in the garage while he was gone.
When he got back we went to the parents house for old fashioneds, baseball and good conversation.
I went to work on Wednesday for a couple hours then, came home and did some metal work in the garage. Then about 2:30 we hit the road to Denver! BTW traffic was horrible.
We walked in I grabbed a beer, The guy thought i asked for 3 and wanted to see my kids IDs. I said no just one. LOL. We started the quest of finding our seats. man that was a pain, Mile High is hard to navigate I tell you so it took us a bit . after finding the seats we grabbed another beer some nachos and a couple sodas.
Volbeat started the show, I have recently heard of these guys and I really like them, they are pretty thrash with a vocal style of Life of Agony. Then came Avenge Seven fold. These guys are a favorite among your people. I think they are OK but don’t think I would go buy there album.
Then it was time for the big show!
Metallica, used the same intro music as they have for the past 20 years… Since the black album anyway. Then Opened with Hard Wired!! And it was Brutally Loud and very impressive.
About 5 Songs into the set, they were playing the Unforgiven. After the song the stage went black and a Sever Lightning storm sign appeared on the screens above the stage. so the crowd kinda goes nuts thing it is part of the show (like there gonna play Ride The Lightning) then a Voice comes over the PA saying “For your safety and the safety of others around you, please proceed to the nearest concourse while we wait for the lightning storm to pass” We’re just like what?
So there was about a 40 min delay then we were able to go back to our seats. When the show started again Met played the intro to ride the lightning, the crowed really liked that. then play Now that were dead.
So this was Noah’s first major Rock concert. I asked him when it was done how he liked it. He said ” that is by far the coolest thing I have ever seen”.
I have Seen Metallica 4 times, I cant say one is better than the other because they are all different. but this was one good show!!!!
