Well of course it is summer and that makes us all want to work in the garage right? Well thanks to Pinterest we are getting plenty of that. Making some benches for sale and some signs, shelves for the shed all good stuff, and it keeps us busy and out of trouble.
Merideth made this beauty a couple weeks ago. It is made from reclaimed fencing and completely hand painted. She used a vinyl cutting machine to make the stencils for the lettering, tracing them on with an exact o knife. The phrase reads, ” What if all your dreams came true?” I love it! Then painted them with paint pen. Dandelions started with a bad stencil, and then by hand to fill in. To top it off a rustic clip was added to hang a picture from up to a 6 X 8 I believe. Our good friend Jayar too this one home for his wife.
Next she made this Reclaimed Distressed indoor “Blessed” wood sign. Measures 241/2″ by 10 1/2 “. Hand painted using chalk paint then waxed for a beautiful finish. again using stenciling to capture the natural wood underneath before painting with the paint pen. This also allowed her to stain the reclaimed wood with out staining the wood where the letter are. This one is still available for purchase here!
On to the shelves for the Shed. We made these last weekend, This shed was pretty small only a 6 by 6. and the way I framed it didn’t really allow for any windows. I didn’t want to spend to much time or effort to make headers and what not, plus they would have just been covered up by garden tools and what not. So we decided on mock windows with some shelves to put planters on. simple and took about 30 minutes to make, but they certainly add decoration!
And on to the main event for this weekend. I love these benches. We made one for my mother for her birthday took a couple of Pics and posted for sale on one of the ol FB garage sale sites. One lady was redoing her home and like the bench a lot but wanted it modified for the area she wanted to put it in. So we built one and it took about 2 hours. all hand cut and put together. using a Kraig Jig to set the screws to keep them out of site. We left it unfinished at her request so she could stain or paint it the way she wanted.
Well we have more projects to come. Working on a few of planter boxes for my neighbor similar to what you see here . And an old school headboard turned bench ( not yet complete). We will have more signs in the future. I will post them up here for you to see when we have them done. Things for fall will be coming soon as well!.
So to all of you get out in the garage and do some Crafty stuff. Get the kids involved they may like it and its pretty easy to do!!!
